Anuradhapura

Anuradhapura is a major city located 205 kilometers away from the main capital city Colombo. Located in the north-central province. It lies on the banks of Malvathu river. This city is a known world heritage site of well–preserved ruins of the ancient kings (Sinhalese civilization) this is one of the main cities of civilization. It was the first capital of Sri Lanka in the 3rd century BC.

It holds the oldest historical tree in the world Sri maha bodhi, the brazen palace, pagodas, Ruwanwelisaya, Abayagiriya &  the first stupa in Sri Lanka Thuparamaya, finely preserved rock-cut statues of Lord Buddha and lover’s monastery Isurumuniya. The irrigation is quite smart which was done by brave kings, Basawak Kulama tank, Tissa Wewa, and Abhaya Wewa. So, this place is quite historical it leads this city for a UNESCO world heritage site.
